FC Kraja's Division 3 Campaign Heats Up: Cup Heroics, League Battles, and the Road Ahead

FC Kraja sits fifth in Division 3 as the defending champions continue their journey in a tougher division, while a dramatic penalty shootout victory keeps their cup ambitions alive.

Finding Our Footing in Division 3

After a historic spring season that saw FC Kraja capture both the league championship and playoff cup, the club's first campaign in Division 3 has brought new challenges, exciting victories, and plenty of drama.

Through five league matches, FC Kraja holds a 2-1-2 record with 7 points, 14 goals scored, and a +7 goal difference, placing the club fifth in the standings.

Following a difficult 2-0 defeat against Riverside Squires, Kraja responded emphatically with a 3-0 victory over familiar rivals Tiercel City FC at Fairview Park Athletic Field on October 4.

The following weekend, Kraja traveled to Randall's Island to face Panatha USA, battling to a 1-1 draw in another competitive Division 3 encounter.

With the team currently sitting just two points outside fourth place, there is still plenty to play for as the season approaches its second half.

Cup Drama: Eli Yusufov the Hero Against FC Rush!

While the league campaign continues, FC Kraja also delivered one of its most memorable moments of the season in the Peter Strumpf Cup, organized under the Eastern New York State Soccer Association (ENYSSA).

The Peter Strumpf Cup is an annual single-elimination competition bringing together amateur clubs from Division 3 and lower divisions across regional leagues, including the Cosmopolitan Soccer League.

Facing familiar opponents FC Rush, Kraja battled through a tense, scoreless match that finished 0-0 after regulation.

With neither side able to find the breakthrough, the contest was decided from the penalty spot.

And that's when goalkeeper Eli Yusufov stepped up!

In a dramatic shootout, Eli produced two crucial penalty saves, helping FC Kraja secure an incredible 8-7 shootout victory and advance in the competition.

It was a remarkable display of composure and determination, reminding everyone that cup football often comes down to the smallest moments.

Final: FC Kraja 0-0 FC Rush (8-7 on penalties)

The Division 3 Standings: Everything Still to Play For

The competition remains fierce at the top of the table. ERFC Hudson leads with a perfect 5-0-0 record and 15 points, followed by FC Sandzak II and FanDuel FC, both on 10 points.

FC Kraja currently sits fifth with 7 points, level with FC Rush and just two points behind Riverside Squires.

Importantly, Kraja's 14 goals scored and +7 goal difference demonstrate the attacking potential of this squad. The challenge now is turning strong performances into consistent results.

With several important fixtures ahead, the opportunity to climb the standings and challenge for the promotion places remains very much alive.
